Waiver Wire - Week 14
By 5 Yard Rush
Well everyone, we did it! We made it though the Fantasy Football regular season. It has gone insanely quick and I cannot believe that now we are in knockout football as of tomorrow in most leagues. We are now in the part of the season where the Waiver Wire can determine championships or end of season.
There are some of you that have smaller leagues or more restrictive playoff structures, meaning Week Fourteen is your last Regular Season week. The Waiver Wire is still just as important. Regardless of whether you have made your playoffs yet, or need to win to get in.
For those of you still chasing playoff spots, or for trying to progress in the first round of the playoffs, you need to be tuned into the Waiver Wire for this week. However, if you are on bye, start thinking about Week 15 Waiver Wire adds and streaming options if you need them. Don’t take the week off. There is still work to be done this week. Even with a bye.
If you are set at positions, I would spent this week picking up those handcuffs for Running Backs. If you don’t know who to pick up, Andre has written about them here. However, for everyone else, here are your Week Fourteen targets:
Week 13- 17/22 182 Yards, 2 TDs, 1 Fumble, 4 Carries, 5 Yards,
For the third week in a row, Tannehill makes the Waiver Wire column. I cannot believe he is under 30% owned in leagues. I have been writing and telling you for weeks how good he has been. But if you still are not sold, then he has Oakland and their horrific defense next week. Wheels up on Tannehill next week as he strolls to another QB1 performance.
Week 13- 16/27 147 Yds, 1 TD, 1 INT, 2 Carries, 8 Yards
The man with the tash is back. Foles was dropped after turning the ball over 3 times on his first 3 possessions vs the Buccaneers as they were trailing 25-0 at Half-time. In the second half, Minshew started to make things happen. It was too little too late for the result of the game. However there is very little doubt that Minshew mania has returned to Jacksonville and that Gardner will start in Week Fourteen vs the Chargers.
Week 13- 146 Yds Rushing, TD 2 Rec, 8 Yards Receiving
Raheem Mostert played due to the injured Matt Breida and he did not disappoint. Mostert took charge of the backfield and put up a huge game. The risk with Mostert is that he will not back that up this week against the Saints, nor will he likely get the volume. However, he is a handcuff worth owning in a run first offense. Also, if he does get an opportunity, he is likely to produce. He has been good this season. Mostert is well worth the add off the Waiver Wire, as he continue to do a lot with a little.
Week 13- 63 Yards Rushing, TD 1 Rec 4 Yards
As predicted in last week’s Waiver Wire column, Benny Snell would get the touches in the backfield. We do not know the status of James Conner going forward. However, as of right now, the Steelers are not missing their number 1 Running Back. Snell is running well between the tackles. Ok, he didn’t get the yards we all hoped for, but he did find the end zone. Snell has the porous Cardinals defense next. If Conner is out, expect Snell to have a big game. Add him this week off the Waiver Wire.
Week 13- 4 RECs, 111 Yards, TD
We nailed this pickup on the Waiver Wire last week. If you rode this with us, you did very well. Washington came close to 20 PPR points and shone in a poor Steelers offense. And, whilst Juju is out injured, you can continue to start Washington. However do watch the Injury Report for updates. He is the best Waiver Wire Wide Receiver option out there. Washington has the very poor Arizona Cardinals defense next. He is a must start as things stand.
Week 13- 9 RECs, 140 Yds
Welcome to the 2019 season Anthony Miller! The man most people drafted in the 8-9th round as a sneaky addition based on last years volume has finally endured him time in the wilderness. He has seen a mammoth 33 targets over the last 3 weeks and has stats of 21 receptions for 271 yards and a Touchdown in that time. Last week, on Thanksgiving, he led the Bears in targets, receptions and yards. As a result, he is now worth adding. Tying yourself to Mitch Trubisky is not the most fun you can have on a Sunday, but he has sustained Allen Robinson all season. Perhaps he can now do the same for Anthony Miller. He’s well worth the speculative add off of the Waiver Wire, considering who is there.
Week 13- 5 RECs, 30 Yards
Ryan Griffin is the man again at Tight End this week. Ultimately there are only two Tight Ends under 30% owner that are worth any consideration. They are Griffin and Mike Gesicki. And whilst Gesicki has two touchdowns in two games, the Miami Dolphins offense is not something you want to be tying yourself to. And whilst the Jets aren’t much better, especially based on Sunday’s performance, they still move the chains and have good weapons. Also, Griffin is being targeted. He had 7 targets on Sunday. Keep rolling the dice with him.
Week 13- 1/1 FGs 4/4 XPs
Crosby has missed 1 kick all season. He is 47/48 on the year. The only thing that affects him and why he is so lowly owned is that 33 of his kicks have been Extra Point Attempts. When called upon, he makes his kicks. If you are streaming kickers, you can now stop and slot Crosby in. Crosby has Washington, Chicago, Minnesota and Detroit to finish the season, with those last 2 indoors. He has a very safe floor. He might not be the most exciting addition, but he is a set him and forget him Kicker, which is all you want off the Waiver Wire for this position.
Playing @ Washington Redskins Next
The Packers defense has not reached the highs of early on in the season. However, they certainly came to the party Sunday with 3 Interceptions of Daniel Jones. This week they take on the resurgent Washington Redskins. The Redskins are a one dimension team where they just will run the ball, run it again and then run it some more. That is how they will play on Sunday. The Packers will have a plan for this and will force the ball into Dwayne Haskins’ hands more. If that happens, expect to see even more picks for this Packers defense.
That’s it for this week. We hope you get a lot out of this article and are seeing some success. You can listen to the audio show on your favourite podcast app. We also answer questions on Twitter @5yardrush so do get in touch there. However, until next week, Keep Rushing.
