PICK 6! CFB PREDICTIONS FOR WEEK 14

Happy Thanksgiving weekend! With the holiday comes an additional full day of College Football action. With it, comes “Rivalry Week”, the last week of regular season action, and the last chance for teams to secure a place in their conference’s Championship Game. More importantly, there’s just two weeks left to crown a Pick 6 champion!

Anything could happen over this weekend. Only the SEC Championship Game and Mountain West Championship Game are fully set as I write this on Friday morning.

The unpredictability of College Football was the reason we created Pick 6. What could be more entertaining than predicting the unpredictable?

Each week, the trio of College Chaps select six games from the schedule and predict the winners. The scores are tallied to crown a season champion. The president of predictions, if you will.

We’re joined by a guest picker each week, who contributes to a season guest total. They also have their own guest leaderboard to fight it out for.

Last week, Ric Serritella of the NFL Draft Bible scored a respectable four correct predictions. We were all shocked and surprised that Navy shot down SMU. It leaves a tantalising three way tie at the top!

This week on Pick 6 we’re joined by special guest Paige Kuhn. Paige is a College Football editor for Bleacher Report. Having interned at Arizona University, she is a big Wildcats fan. Despite a tough season for the Wildcats, she remains a believer in Kevin Sumlin!

So, to this week’s Pick 6 games!

Ohio State @ Michigan

Alex Chinery: Ohio State

This will be closer than many think, but Ohio State is just better on both sides of the ball. Fields will win the battle of the transfer quarterbacks.

George Somerville: Ohio State

If it weren’t for the Iron Bowl this would be game of the weekend. Can Big Blue upset the Buckeyes? Well that’s the one thing that John Harbaugh wants from Santa this year. While it would be so like Michigan to do this, I just can’t see that Shea Patterson offence getting the better of Chase Young & Co. Chase Young is going to feed and feed big on that Wolverine offence. Buckeyes win big. #defence4heisman

Oliver Hodgkinson: Ohio State

The fact that this is in Michigan, and it’s such a big rivalry game, is probably the only thing that stops this being an embarrassment. Although the Wolverines are greatly improved from the team that was trampled by Wisconsin, expect a healthy dose of J.K. Dobbins, combined with the rushing skill set of Justin Fields, to provide a similar result.

Paige Kuhn: Ohio State

Ohio State will be tested offensively but the Buckeyes defense will be too much for U-M. Justin Fields will be the x-factor, he needs to have a big game to keep U-M out of it.

Alabama @ Auburn

Alex Chinery: Alabama

Even with Mac Jones, Alabama is too talented. Expect Najee Harris to have a monster day as ‘bama go vintage Saban.

George Somerville: Alabama

Forget your egg bowl, your apple cup, your John Bunion trophy. This. Is. The. Big. One. It’s the Iron Bowl. Auburn have little to lose and for a Bama it’s the last roll of the Play Off dice, so it’s shaping up to be a doozy.Auburn are strong defensively and a Mac Jones led Tide offence should be considered weaker, but I still think the Tide will roll over the Tigers. #RollTideRoll

Oliver Hodgkinson: Alabama

The Iron Bowl is one of the great college football rivalries. However, with Tua Tagovailoa out, the game has lost some of its dazzle. It now boils down to two unproven quarterbacks against two top level defensive units. Give me Najee Harris and that Alabama wide receiver quintet to elevate the Crimson Tide over the Tigers.

Paige Kuhn: Alabama

Despite losing Tua, Alabama is going to take a W in a close game. Mac Jones is better than people give him credit for and is also surrounded by a lot of offensive weapons.

Wisconsin @ Minnesota

Alex Chinery: Minnesota

Row the boat! The Gophers have enough discipline and talent to expose the one dimensional nature of Wisconsin. Give me Ohio State and Minnesota in the championship game.

George Somerville: Wisconsin

This is a cracker. Many are rightly on the PJ Fleck train this year and who doesn’t buy in to “row the boat”. Minneapolis is also hosting College Game Day so the full circus is in town. I reckon Coach Corso picks the Gophers, so I’m going Badgers. As the Badgers are good. Sconnies win. #GoBadgers

Oliver Hodgkinson: Wisconsin

This is the tightest game to pick this week. I’ve loved following the Gophers story this season, and last time I went against them they shook Penn State so part of me hopes that happens again. I can’t see past Jonathan Taylor rushing for his fourth straight 200+ yard game. Badgers win, reclaim the axe, and book a place in the BIG Ten Championship Game.

Paige Kuhn: Minnesota

The boat will keep rowing to a W. I like the Gophers at home.

Texas A&M @ LSU

Alex Chinery: LSU

Texas A&M has a habit of starting poorly in big games and then making the score respectable at the end. If they start slowly here, LSU will blow them away. Expect a big LSU win to try and wrestle back the number one spot.

George Somerville: LSU

Defensively, the Aggies put up a strong showing against Georgia last week and in Kellen Mond they might just have the most improved QB in the nation. But it’s LSU man. LSU. The best team in the country (according to me). Tigers win. #GeauxTigers

Oliver Hodgkinson: LSU

Let’s not over complicate this. LSU are much better than Texas A & M, and will potentially be playing with a chip on their shoulder after losing their number 1 spot in the latest CFB Playoff ranking.

Paige Kuhn: LSU

This year’s game ends in regulation with a blowout LSU win. LSU’s offense and Joe Burrow are not going to be fazed by TAMU. I think we finally see LSU’s defense put together a complete game.

Oklahoma @ Oklahoma State

Alex Chinery: Oklahoma State

It’s called bedlam for a reason. State are on a four game winning streak and I am picking them to shock the world on Saturday.

George Somerville: Oklahoma

Another big rivalry game. Oklahoma are struggling but are still scrambling wins despite the offence being a little off key. I remain a big Hurts fan, so Sooners to win in the Boone Pickens.

Oliver Hodgkinson: Oklahoma

Every game for Oklahoma is a “must win” game if they are to stand any chance of making the CFB Playoff. This is likely to be an absolute shootout with both teams possessing explosive offenses. If the Cowboys can limit Jalen Hurts in the passing game “Bedlam” could ensue but they’ve struggled in that regard all season. Sooners stay alive another week.

Paige Kuhn: Oklahoma

Oklahoma and Hurts have way too much to prove to the CFP committee for them to keep this one close like a lot of their other wins. OK State’s Chuba Hubbard will have a big game, but it won’t be enough to outscore Jalen and the Sooners.

Cal @ UCLA

Alex Chinery: Cal

Cal’s defense has been shut down at times this season. Expect them to feast on UCLA’s inconsistent offense, that’ll be enough to give the Golden Bears the win.

George Somerville: Cal

It must be tough being a Bruin. But then I think of all those beaches and that sun and think, why bother about football. The Chip Kelly train is pulling out the station and it’s empty. How this man still has a job is beyond me. Golden Bears win. Big.

Oliver Hodgkinson: UCLA

Let’s call this a tie and move on. UCLA are only playing for pride, with zero chance of bowl eligibility. Cal are playing for a winning season, currently sitting at 6-5. One team has a really poor offense but good defense, the other is UCLA. I’ll take the home team, but I don’t expect to be staying up to watch this one.

Paige Kuhn: Cal

Cal is coming off a big win vs. Stanford and UCLA just can’t get in a rhythm. I am going with the Bears.
