PICK 6! CFB PREDICTIONS FOR WEEK 13

Week 13 of the College Football has come around fast! There are just two regular season weeks remaining, before Championship games take us in to Bowl season. Despite 12 weeks of games, the game still continues to surprise, astound, and amaze. Just like our predictions game, Pick 6!

The unpredictability of College Football was the reason we created Pick 6. What could be more entertaining than predicting the unpredictable?

Each week, the trio of College Chaps select six games from the schedule and predict the winners. The scores are tallied to crown a season champion. A game calling connoisseur if you like.

We’re joined by a guest picker each week, who contributes to a season guest total. They also have their own guest leaderboard to fight it out for.

Last week, our very own director of College Football content, Simon Carroll, put his mind to predicting and scored a 4. With just three weeks to go, it’s tight at the top.

So, to this week’s Pick 6 games!

Penn State @ Ohio State

Alex Chinery: Ohio State

Blowout alert. This Penn State team has been overrated all year. Ohio State is steamrollering everyone, that continues Saturday.

George Somerville: Ohio State

This should be a great game and I love how James Franklin has turned Penn back into a powerhouse. But, the game is in Columbus against this extremely talented Ohio State side team. I just can’t see an upset happening here. It’s Buckeyes for me.

Oliver Hodgkinson: Ohio State

There are lots of entertaining matchups in this marquee BIG Ten game. How KJ Hamler performs against Jeff Okudah being just one. However, this game is set to be a Chase Young homecoming party. The star defensive end is back from suspension and ready to stake his claim to being College Football’s best player once again.

Ric Serritella: Ohio State

While the Penn State defense is as stingy as they come, it may be a bit too much to ask Nittany Lions signal-caller Sean Clifford to keep up on the scoreboard with Heisman contender Justin Fields. The Buckeyes roll. PSU keeps it closer than Vegas expects.

Texas A&M @ Georgia

Alex Chinery: Georgia

The Dawgs D is one of the best in the nation. Jake Fromm always does enough, and doesn’t make errors that cost his team. Dawgs to win this one.

George Somerville: Georgia

I will be at this game and I’m looking forward to a good ol’ SEC match up. Georgia’s season hangs in the balance and TAMU haven’t much to play for, so for me Jake Fromm and the Dawgs win out convincingly here.

Oliver Hodgkinson: Georgia

Georgia can’t afford to slip in their quest to reach the College Football Playoff. Both teams are on a 4 game winning streak but it ends for the Aggies on Saturday night. The Georgia defense is too good for an inconsistent Texas A & M offense.

Ric Serritella: Georgia

The College Football Playoffs have already begun for Georgia, as they are in an elimination game each week. The battle-tested Bulldogs dictated their win against Auburn last week, look for more of the same on Saturday in Athens. UGA by two scores.

SMU @ Navy

Alex Chinery: SMU

SMU’s big play offense can score quickly. That’s the perfect antidote to the ball control option offense of Navy. When Navy go behind early, they have very little in the way of answers.

George Somerville: SMU

Another interesting match up with Navy favourites in this clash. But SMU have been a joy to watch this season and I take Shane Buechele to guide the Mustangs to win in a close but entertaining game.

Oliver Hodgkinson: SMU

Three teams stand atop the AAC West with a 5-1 record, and two of those face off in Annapolis on Saturday night. Navy are a slight favourite to win, but SMU will come out fresh after their bye week and stifle the Navy ground game.

Ric Serritella: SMU

After falling to Memphis the week before, SMU didn’t play up to their ability in a close win over ECU last week. Expect them to bounce back strong and be well-prepared for the Midshipmen, as the Mustangs gallop away victorious. SMU by double-digits.

Pitt @ Virginia Tech

Alex Chinery: Pitt

It’s Pitt’s time of year. They’ve not made much noise in recent weeks, and that makes them very dangerous.

George Somerville: Virginia Tech

Both teams going well and I’ve enjoyed watching Pitt this season. But there’s something about Virginia Tech in this game. They have been very unpredictable again this season, but I have the Hokies as a win.

Oliver Hodgkinson: Virginia Tech

Both teams are 7-3 and one game back from Virginia in the ACC Coastal. The Hokies have a good home record, but Pitt are .750 away from Pittsburgh. It’s such a close game to call. Virginia Tech WR Damon Hazelton will be the difference maker as the Hokies sneak a win.

Ric Serritella: Pitt

While the Hokies have been red hot and continue to improve, they will run into a tough Panthers squad, who claw their way into every game with a chance to win at the end. Pitt steals one on the road. Game likely to come down to last possession.

TCU @ Oklahoma

Alex Chinery: Oklahoma

Last weeks comeback victory could be the making of this OU squad. They need to blow out TCU here to get back in the playoff conversation.

George Somerville: Oklahoma

TCU have been a bit of a bust this season and have had signature wins over Texas and Purdue this season. But this Oklahoma team has some fight left in it, as was demonstrated in a very strong 2nd half recovery over Baylor. So, it’s a Sooners win for me.

Oliver Hodgkinson: Oklahoma

TCU have the potential to upset here. However, they’ve been the epitome of inconsistency in 2019. Oklahoma’s offense will prove to be too powerful on the way to a tenth win of the year.

Ric Serritella: Oklahoma

If Oklahoma wants to keep their dim playoff hopes alive, they must win out over TCU this week and a ranked Oklahoma State team next week. Quarterback Jalen Hurts should lead the way as the Sooners take care of business and hurdle over the Horned Frogs. OU by three scores

Washington @ Colorado

Alex Chinery: Washington

The Huskies have grown into this season. They can’t win the PAC-12 but should get a good bowl game. A win here continues their momentum.

George Somerville: Colorado

Big things were expected of both teams pre-season and I think it’s fair to say neither have lived up to those expectations. Washington will be favourites but I like what Mel Tucker is doing in Boulder. The Buffs recent win over Stanford is going to propel them to what would be a shock victory. #GoBuffs

Oliver Hodgkinson: Washington

Both teams have had wildly dissapointing seasons. Only 2 teams in the PAC 12 have given up more points this year than Colorado. Expect Jacob Eason to feast on the way to a comfortable victory.

Ric Serrittella: Washington

This game features two signal-callers with NFL aspirations in Jacob Eason and Steve Montez. Colorado prevailed over a beat up, inexperienced Stanford squad last week but they lost their previous three home games and will have trouble fending off the Huskies here. UW by ten.
