PICK 6! CFB PREDICTIONS FOR WEEK 11

College Football is full of surprises. Week in, week out, anything can, and will, happen. Tuesday night’s College Football Playoff ranking announcement proved exactly that.

I’m not convinced that many people predicted that Ohio State would be the number 1 ranked team in the nation. Reigning champion, Clemson, missing out on the initial top 4 to Penn State was an eye opener too. The Nittany Lions, alongside LSU and Alabama, headline our Pick 6 selections where someone’s 0 has got to go.

New to Pick 6? Presumably, like this week’s guest, you’ve spent the last 125 days in Twitter jail!

Each week, the trio of College Chaps select six games from the schedule and predict the winners. The scores are tallied to crown a season champion. A prediction prince, if you will.

We’re joined by a guest picker each week, who contributes to a season guest total. They also have their own guest leaderboard to fight it out for.

Last week, Jordan Reid of The Draft Network was let down, as we all were, by Nebraska and SMU on his way to 4 correct predictions.

Pick 6 Predictions Table After Week 10

  • Guest – 44
  • Alex Chinery – 42
  • Oli Hodgkinson – 42
  • George Somerville – 38

So, to this week’s Pick 6 games!

Penn State @ Minnesota

Alex Chinery: Minnesota

Oklahoma might be on upset alert, but Penn State is the team that will be upset this week. Flying high at number four in the polls, Penn State haven’t played a team as explosive as the Golden Gophers yet.

The Minnesota revival has seen them become a contender in the Big 10, they shock the world here.

George Somerville: Penn State

I would love to say “row the boat” here, but Penn are knocking on the Play Off door. This will be a tough game but I expect the Nittany Lions to win through.

Oliver Hodgkinson: Penn State

Two high powered offenses, driven by sophomore quarterbacks, go head to head where someone’s 0 has to go. I’m fully in the Gophers boat, but I think the Nittany Lions defense proves the difference maker.

Jim Weber: Penn State

P.J. Fleck has the Gophers rowing the boat, but the Nittany Lions are by far the most talented team Minnesota will have faced.

LSU @ Alabama

Alex Chinery: LSU

Big Boy Burrow goes into Tuscaloosa and hangs it on this Alabama defense. This has the opportunity to be a rare SEC shootout, both offenses are humming but the concerns about Tua’s ankle have me picking the
Tigers.

George Somerville: Alabama

Well this is the big one. Could this be the game of the century? It’s certainly shaping up to be a clash of the titans, and I am about to get on a flight to Tuscaloosa. LSU have been a revelation this season, but I find it hard to bet against Bama at home. This will be a battle in the tranches, with the Crimson Tide sneaking this in a tight one.

Oliver Hodgkinson: LSU

It’s in Tuscaloosa. Alabama are unbeaten in the last 8 between the two programs. There’s something about this LSU team, however, and I can sense a win for the Tigers. There’s so many matchups to watch out for in this clash. Game of the century.

Jim Weber: Alabama

Never bet against Nick Saban – especially at home.

Kansas State @ Texas

Alex Chinery: Texas

Texas might be inconsistent this year, but they are still more talented than this K-State team. The Wildcats have taken a huge leap this season and this will be a close game, but Texas will come out on top.

George Somerville: Kansas State

K State on a high, Texas not full of confidence. I’m thinking a shock in Austin. Wildcats win.

Oliver Hodgkinson: Kansas State

The Wildcats are one of two  Big 12 programs to hold a winning head to head record over Texas. The Longhorns have been banged up for much of the season, especially in the secondary and I think that will continue to haunt them on Saturday

Jim Weber: Texas

The Longhorns have had 2 weeks to stew in that embarrassing performance vs. TCU and should play much better.

Iowa @ Wisconsin

Alex Chinery: Wisconsin

Wisconsin have lost two in a row, Jonathan Taylor has been bottled up. I expect both of these to change in this game. Expect Taylor to have a huge day in front of the home crowd and Wisconsin to right the ship.

George Somerville: Wisconsin

Iowa have been a disappointment and the Badgers are on a roll. Hard to bet against Wisconsin in Madison. Badgers win.

Oliver Hodgkinson: Wisconsin

Two 6-2 teams built on solid defense. The difference between the two? Jonathan Taylor.

Jim Weber: Wisconsin

The Badgers have come crashing back to Earth in losses to Illinois and Ohio State, but they are a different team in Camp Randall.

Iowa State @ Oklahoma

Alex Chinery: Oklahoma

Whist I would love a Brock Purdy breakout game in this spot, I think Oklahoma will want to bounce back from their first loss of the season last time out. If that loss rocked the Sooners confidence any, then Iowa State could pounce. This is a team on upset alert this week.

George Somerville: Oklahoma

This is a good match up, but despite the Sooners recent slip up I’ve got the Sooners back on course. Sooners win.

Oliver Hodgkinson: Oklahoma

Both teams are coming off a defeat before a bye. Despite the obvious talent of Brock Purdy, I just don’t see the Cyclones keeping up with Jalen Hurts and the Sooners.

Jim Weber: Oklahoma

Jalen Hurts won’t let this team fold after a tough loss to K-State.

Wyoming @ Boise State

Alex Chinery: Boise State

A blue field, a late night and a promise of carnage. I’m taking Boise State to continue their push for a NY6 spot. Wyoming are reloading, and Boise is more talented.

George Somerville: Boise State

Wyoming at Boise in Primetime? Crazy. But nothing tells me different than a Broncos win.

Oliver Hodgkinson: Boise State

I expect the Broncos to ride roughshod over the Cowboys, behind two freshman phenoms in Hank Bachmeier and George Holani.

Jim Weber: Boise State

The Cowboys are too inconsistent to win on the Smurf Turf in Boise.
