Answers Below.
Question 1: Who are the only two teams to have posted just one sub-.500 season in the past 20 years?
The first answer that likely springs to mind is the New England Patriots. The Patriots have not had a sub-.500 season since the 2000 season when they went 5-11 in Bill Belichick’s first season in Drew Bledsoe’s final full year as a starter.
The other team to have had just one sub-.500 season is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who went 6-10 in 2003. In 2004 the Steelers drafted Ben Roethlisberger and have never lost more than eight games in the regular season since.
Question 2: Which team has tied the most games in the past 20 years?
14 teams have tied at least one game in the past 20 years. Of those 14 teams, four teams have tied two games, Steelers, Packers, Vikings and Cardinals.
Just one team has tied three games in the last 20 years, the Cincinnati Bengals.
- 2008 Week 11 – vs. Philadelphia Eagles 13-13
- 2014 Week 6 – vs. Carolina Panthers 37-37
- 2016 Week 8 – Washington Redskins 27-27 (London)
Question 3: Which two teams have lost over 200 games in the last 20 years?
The Cleveland Browns have lost a whopping 220 (99-220-1) games in the last 20 years, averaging 11 losses per season, including 15 double-digit loss seasons.
The Detroit Lions have lost 205 games (114-205-1) in the last 20 years, including 12 double-digit loss seasons.
Question 4: Match the teams with their records in the last 20 years:
Packers
Vikings
Giants
Buccaneers
49ers
A) 158-162
B) 148-171-1
C) 165-153-2
D) 197-113-2
E) 138-182
The Packers are the most successful at 197-113-2.
The Vikings are second at 165-153-2.
The Giants are third at 158-162.
The 49ers are 148-171-1 in the last 20 years.
The Buccaneers are bottom with a 138-182 record in the last 20 years.
Question 5: Which two teams have won 10 or more regular season games just once in the last 20 years?
The Cleveland Browns won 10 games in 2007 but have never won double-digit games since. Before that it was 1994 the last time they won at least 10 games.
The Buffalo Bills nearly went the entire 20 years without winning double-digit games. It was not until 2019 that they achieved the feat, going 10-6 on their way to the playoffs. Prior to that they had not won double-digit games in a season since 1999.
Question 6: Which is the only team in the last 20 years to have finished NFL seasons with 15-1 and 1-15 records?
In 2001 the Carolina Panthers won just one game as they went 1-15. However, they reversed that in 2015 losing just one game in the regular season on their way to the Super Bowl.
Question 7: Who are the two teams to have picked first in the NFL Draft three times in the last 20 years?
The Cleveland Browns had the first overall pick in 2000, 2017 and 2018. Interestingly they also picked first in 1999, meaning they have had back to back first-overall picks twice in the last 21 years.
The Houston Texans had the first overall pick in 2002 after becoming the latest expansion team. They then had the first overall pick again in 2006 and 2014.
Interestingly, in the six drafts these two teams have picked first they have selected four defensive ends and two quarterbacks.
