NFL 2020 Week 4 Recap: OBJ loves Facing the Cowboys
After one of the most turbulent game weeks in recent memory, the NFL took to the field for Week 4 and once again the product on the field di not disappoint. Let’s take a look back at an entertaining Week 4 in our latest recap of the 2020 NFL season.
The real OBJ Finally stood up
It finally happened. The magic that we all knew was lying dormant burst onto the turf in JerryWorld and torched the Cowboys.
OBJ is back. It’s taken a while for it to click in Cleveland; last year was basically a total write off. The offense stalled and stumbled and the wide receivers looked frustrated and disinterested. But this was not all on Mr. Beckham Jr. (or Mr. Landry for that matter). I have been – and still am – a staunch supporter of Baker Mayfield and believe he can be a top tier quarterback in the NFL, but he hasn’t been that during Beckham’s tenure in Cleveland.
Sure, we can blame coaching and some bad luck at times, but Mayfield hasn’t been himself. The swagger from his time at Oklahoma has rescinded, but hopefully after a win like this, that took the Browns to 3-1(!!), he can continue to rediscover it. The Nick Chubb injury would be a killer if they didn’t have Kareem Hunt ready and waiting in the wings. I’d expect the Browns to beat the Colts next week before a real acid test against the Steelers in Week 6.
For Dallas, what can you say? They’re the best 1-3 team I think I’ve ever seen. They’re certainly the most entertaining team. Every single week is drama. To attempt to stage ANOTHER fourth-quarter comeback when down 41-14 is outrageous. And yet, they nearly pulled it off!!
Their offense is so so good; imagine if they paid Earl Thomas the money he needs and bolstered their defense too… Sure, their record looks bad, but with the Giants, Washington, Cardinals and Eagles in their next four games… I’m fairly confident you’ll see the Cowboys with a winning record by Week 8.
The TB12 Method is not Dead
Where did that come from!? 30/46 for 369 yards and five TDs… Huh!? Whaaaaaa!? Thomas Brady refuses to lay down and (even without Chris Godwin and Leonard Fournette) has a pretty stellar supporting cast around him. Mike Evans is more than a goal line receiver, and he showed that again on Sunday, against what can be a pretty stingy Chargers defense… (see: their game vs Mr. Mahomes a couple of weeks ago).
I’m surprised Gronkowski is still failing to make a serious imprint on the season, but perhaps you can forgive him needing to readjust to full game speed after a year off. Perhaps his usage will tick up now following O.J. Howard’s unfortunate Achilles injury. And shout out Scotty Miller. Feels like he’s saving people’s fantasy weeks as a last minute waiver wire add with remarkable regularity now.
For LA, Herbert looks like the real deal, even if he did throw the late back-breaking fourth-quarter interception. Call it a tribute to Phil Rivers…
The Eagles are still alive
Carson Wentz may not be the man he used to be, but the Eagles showed me some life on Sunday night. Wentz was shifty at times and grew into the game before throwing the game’s defining pass to … *checks notes* … Travis Fulgham!? … for the go-ahead Touchdown.
The 49ers are of course injury ravaged, but this was still an impressive scalp for an Eagles team that has looked so devoid of hope and fight the last few weeks. San Francisco turned to CJ Beathard late on after Nick Mullens had done his best to throw them out of the game. He got them to within a Hail Mary of a win, but it exposed (again) the problem with the Niners. They don’t have a quarterback people fear, and I’m including Mr. Jimmy Garoppolo in that.
Sidenote – Brandon Aiyuk’s hurdle was insane.
Philadelphia is doubting Wentz, but he had enough moxie to win a very tough road game. He’s not dead yet either. Somehow, despite winning none of their first three games, the Eagles are in first place in the NFC East. Incredible.
Monday night doubleheader

So we’ve got a BONUS doubleheader on MNF this week due to Cam Newton’s positive COVID test. The Chiefs host the Patriots, and the Falcons travel to Green Bay.
Let’s start with the rescheduled game. Firstly, get well soon Cam Newton. I’m really sad you can’t play in this game. It would be great to see this new-look Patriots team test their mettle against the best team in the world. But, we may have to wait until the playoffs to see that now.
Anyway, a wise man once said “don’t bet against Patrick Mahomes.” I agree with this man. Right now – after he dismantled the fearsome Ravens last week – how could you back anyone else? Chiefs all day long.
At Lambeau, it’s a similar situation; you simply won’t find me betting against Aaron Rodgers and his revenge tour. The Packers are flying. Aaron Jones is STILL criminally underrated in the league, and despite having a completely decimated wide receiver corps, they’re still heavy favourites in my mind to come out victorious tonight. Sorry Atlanta. You ain’t winning tonight.

- The Seattle Seahawks are clearly the best team in the NFC West.
- You will respect Chris Carson and the other pieces of the Seahawks offense besides Russell Wilson.
- You will also continue to view Russell Wilson as the MVP front-runner he is.
- I am a little bit worried about the Arizona Cardinals after back to back defeats against teams (in my mind) they should have beaten comfortably. No panic yet – but just being wary. Thankfully, playing the Jets next week is the perfect tonic for back to back defeats…
- The Buffalo Bills are 4-0. That is not a typo. And I will keep saying this until it happens… I WANT BILLS Vs. PATRIOTS NOW.
- Deshaun Watson deserves so much better. So much.
- Congratulations to Joe Burrow on his first win! Well deserved. Many more to come.
- The Giants vs Washington game this season might end up being the worst game ever… and we have to watch it twice.
Week 5 Highlights
Pretty please Sky Sports can we have Bills vs. Titans in the early window!? The late window games are a bit of a mess but Browns vs. Colts looks to be the most exciting matchup.
