To paraphrase Vince Lombardi “you can chase perfection, knowing you will never attain it but along the way you might catch excellence.” Of all the football coaches to have chased perfection none have come closer to catching it than Don Shula. For all his achievements in the game Shula will forever be known as the man who led the Miami Dolphins to a perfect season, a feat that remains unreplicated.
What lessons can we learn from a man who coached five different Super Bowl quarterbacks amidst a career that saw him retire as the winningest coach in NFL history?
