College Football Live: 28.11.2020

By Simon Carroll

Each week, four of our CFB team will be live on YouTube discussing all the action as it happens within one of the schedule windows.

Week 12 was headlined by a huge Big 10 matchup between Ohio State and Indiana, and it did not disappoint. Read on to recap all the action from last week, and what we will be focusing on College Football Live this Saturday:

The drama from Week 12 actually began on the Friday night, as Purdue were cruelly denied the opportunity at victory by a rather spurious holding call that allowed the Minnesota Golden Gophers to steal the win 34-31.

This game set the tone for what would be a weekend of surprises; our host Alex Chinery, whilst directing proceedings, witnessed Scott Frost’s Nebraska hit a new low. The Huskers were destroyed by Illinois, a far from impressive football team themselves – the final score of 41-23 not doing justice to the dominance shown by the Fighting Illini.

Oli Hodgkinson took the responsibility for the biggest game of the early slate; the #3 Buckeyes hosting the #9 Hoosiers. Indiana hadn’t won in Columbus for more than 25 years, and it looked like another comfortable victory for Ohio State as they marched into a 28-7 lead at the half. But three interceptions from Justin Fields, coupled with some Michael Penix Jr. magic led to a wild ending. In the end The Hoosiers went down but not without a fight, taking it to the final play of the game before falling 42-35.

Our SEC expert George Somerville watched over a couple of games in the biggest conference in college football, witnessing a poor game by Kyle Trask’s standards. The Heisman candidate threw for just the 383 yards and 3 touchdowns as Florida cruised past Vanderbilt. Meanwhile, LSU got back on the wagon by squeaking past a revitalised Arkansas program, the Tigers taking down the Hogs 27-24.

Finally, head of college football and NFL Draft content Simon Carroll watched a thriller between two Group of 5 teams known for their ground game. In a contest that saw just ten completed passes, Georgia Southern can be aggrieved to be on the wrong end of a 28-27 scoreline against The Army Black Knights. The Eagles had a chance of a game winning field goal stolen from them as the referees declared time had expired despite there looking like one second left on the clock as Shai Werts spiked the football.
