2021 Superflex Mock Draft 1.0
It’s rookie hype season so what better way to embrace it than our first rookie mock draft! We are drafting the first round of a 12 team superflex league and I am honoured to be joined by former Touchdown Fantasy Analyst and current PFN Content Director Ben Rolfe:
Round 1
Pick 1 – Ben Rolfe
Trevor Lawrence – Viewed as a generational prospect and potentially a Week 1 starter in his rookie year makes Lawrence a hard fantasy asset to pass up. He could be a starter in your fantasy team in 2021.
Pick 2 – Alastair Cook
Justin Fields – Likely a day 1 starter, Fields has shown he can run a pro-style offense at an extremely high level in college. Has all the traits of a top fantasy producer with his mobility and big arm. In the right landing spot the sky is the limit and I am happy to take him this high in a superflex league.
Pick 3 – Ben Rolfe
Najee Harris – I always look to value running backs highly in rookie drafts. With none of the other top QBs sure-fire options it makes sense to get a player with the potential of Harris. Running backs peak early in their NFL careers so prioritising getting a player who could start Week 1 of his rookie season is key.
Pick 4 – Alastair Cook
Trey Lance – Shooting for his huge upside, Lance has the skill set to become a fantasy monster in the NFL given the right situation. May not see the field right away but Lance has that rushing upside that is so valuable in fantasy football. I have a feeling those that take a shot on Lance will be smiling in 2-3 years’ time when he’s at the top of the game.
Pick 5 – Ben Rolfe
Travis Etienne – Etienne is another player who could start Week 1 of his NFL career. Etienne should be a threat in both the running and receiving games which could make him valuable in PPR formats.
Pick 6 – Alastair Cook
Ja’Marr Chase – In a class of his own at the position. I don’t really see any weaknesses in his game and set crazy records back in 2019. I want Chase on all my dynasty teams so this was the easiest pick of the draft for me.
Pick 7 – Ben Rolfe
De’Vonta Smith – Location will be key for these receivers but Smith has a style to succeed anywhere Where Smith lands and his potential opportunities in the first two years could determine his value as his size gives me longevity concerns.
Pick 8 – Alastair Cook
Javonte Williams – My clear No.2 running back. Javonte has a complete skill set that will see him fit seamlessly into the NFL. An NFL ready three down back that can catch the ball, sign me up!
Pick 9 – Ben Rolfe
Kyle Pitts – Finding a top tight end can be tough so an opportunity to take one this talented should not be passed up. Hopefully he doesn’t become a Gesicki type who doesn’t block well. His usage could become limited if so.
Pick 10 – Alastair Cook
Zach Wilson – Landing spot will be a big determining factor as to what his value is but to get Wilson as the 4th QB off the board when many have him as their No.2 feels like a steal. His improvement this year was impressive and you can see traits in him that could correspond to being a good fantasy performer.
Pick 11 – Ben Rolfe
Jaylen Waddle – Home run hitter who also has the potential to be effective on short routes with his speed. Slight concern he gets turned into a gadget player but the upside is high.
Pick 12 – Alastair Cook
Rondale Moore – A lot of people are higher on him than me but to get him at the 12 spot I can’t pass it up here. A powerful receiver with a very high ceiling, this could be the steal of the draft in years to come.
